What is InvimÁgil and how does it work?
As part of the trend of various Ministries of Health of implementing regulatory technological platforms, the Colombia Ministry of Health created InvimÁgil, a fully digital system for registration of different products including medical devices, which enhances paperless initiatives.
One key aspect of this system is that users must first create an account as a person. Only afterward they can establish profiles for the companies they legally represent, a process verified by Confecámaras (the Colombian Confederation of Chambers of Commerce). Within a company, roles are assigned by the legal representative, who can also define relationships with third-party companies involved in activities supervised by INVIMA .
An important feature of InvimÁgil is its ability to process a diverse range of operations. Transactions can be completed automatically within one day or semi-automatically within 15 to 30 days, depending on whether prior analysis or regulatory review is required. The platform offers real-time services, allowing users to monitor progress and track assignments throughout the entire procedural lifecycle.
It is important to note that the implementation of InvimÁgil is being carried out gradually. The registration process for users and companies in the food and beverage sector is already open, with cosmetics and household hygiene products to follow. The registration process for medical devices is expected to become available later in the first semester of 2025, while the registration for pharmaceuticals will be accessible starting in the second semester.
